Hi All,

Today, I became a proud owner of a Nikon D90 camera with a Nikon 35mm f1.8 lens to begin my NYIP program tomorrow! The camera and lens were purchased locally in Chennai, India. The camera was priced at Indian Rupees 35,000.00 (~USD 550.00), and the lens was priced at Indian Rupees 12,700.00 (~USD 199.00). I think I have a pretty good deal on both. I have also purchase a Sandisk Extreme SDHC compliant 32GB card priced at Indian Rupees 2,400.00 (~USD 37.00), and a Hoya UV(c) filter priced at Indian Rupees 1,000.00 (~USD 15.00).

I have all the gear that I need to get started with the lessons tomorrow. I am so excited!

Cheers,
Ranjit

Thank you, Steve, Melody and Heather, for all your kind words and encouragement.

I have a quick question. Should I keep the hard LCD protector that comes with the camera or should I remove it and replace it with a plastic film screen protector?

Cheers,
Ranjit

Thank you, Si, for your words of encouragement. Yes, the 35mm f1.8 is a good lens, and importantly, it is light!

Cheers,
Ranjit
